Title: | AUTERSON BASEBALL INSTRUCTOR |
Olivia Stefl Teaching Philosophy
Softball provided me an opportunity to play competitively throughout high school, travel, and four years of college. It also gave me valuable life lessons, personal growth, and memories to last a lifetime. The time I spent playing softball shaped me not only as a person and a player, but the coach I am today. I was blessed to have many wonderful coaches pour knowledge, passion, and encouragement into me over the years, and I wish to do the same for my players.
In college, I suffered a severe hip injury, resulting in surgery. Throughout my recovery, I learned perseverance and humility. Unfortunately, an athlete’s identity is tied to their performance, and – due to this setback – mine started to shatter. Luckily, I had people reminding me I was more than just my statistics. Along with helping players achieve their dreams, I want to encourage them to understand their successes or failures on the field don’t define them. They are uniquely and wonderfully made, and will glorify the Lord – win or lose.
As their coach, I hope to teach the nuances of the sport’s fundamentals, so players will feel limitless when reaching for the highest levels. I will be dedicated to finding creative ways to help them improve, feel confident, and grow in every aspect of life – inside and outside the sport.
